What is mirror printing or cutting?

Mirror printing — or mirror cutting for plain vinyl — means we flip the artwork horizontally before it goes to the printer or plotter. The decal then gets applied to the inside surface of a window or glass panel, and the image reads correctly to anyone looking in from outside.

It's the same vinyl, the same colours, the same finish — just produced in reverse so that the glass does the "flipping back" for you.

When would you need it?

The most common reason is a rear window or cab window on a caravan, motorhome, horsebox or van. Fitting from the inside means the glass itself protects the vinyl from UV, rain, road grit, and general wear — which can significantly extend the life of the decal compared to an external fit in an exposed position.

It also gives a cleaner look. Because the vinyl is sandwiched between the glass and the outside world, there are no exposed edges to catch the wind or start peeling, and the surface stays smooth and flat.

Does it work for both cut vinyl and printed graphics?

Yes. If you're ordering plain cut vinyl lettering or a simple shape, we mirror the cut file. If you're ordering a full-colour printed decal, we mirror the print and use a clear or white backing as appropriate for the application.

The result through clear glass looks virtually identical to a standard external fit. Tinted or privacy glass will affect the appearance of the colours slightly — worth bearing in mind if the glass has a strong tint — but for standard clear glazing the difference is negligible.
